Dear internet marketer,
I have a solid truth that I want to quickly share with you in this short post.
If you like, call it “old school advice”
No problem.
But I will tell you.
I started selling online in 2007 but it was in 2009 that I began to make consistent income all because of the truth I want to share with you.
What happened?
I took a look at all the big guys in internet marketing to see what they were doing that I wasn’t
I wasn’t after making N1 million a month then.
All I needed was a consistent N200k a month at least.
Thanks to a man named Jimmy D. Brown who exposed me to it.
All the big guys had a list building system that kept adding more people to their list day in, day out.
Because of this list, they were able to make money non stop from various activities:
– Selling their own products
– Selling other people’s products for a commission
– Making money from adverts
– Etc
When I got this truth, I cancelled everything I was doing and focused 100% on building my own list.
And I have tried so hard to ensure that I maintain my relationship with my list.
Today, I have built various lists across many markets.
When I was promoting Nairabet as an affiliate years ago (around 2012), I built a list of Chelsea fans that I promoted the website to and made approximately N150,000 a month in commissions
Many people want to make money from JVZoo.
What do the JVZoo guys do?
They build lists and promote to them.
To my knowledge, the big guys on JVZoo are not even the product creators.
They are the guys with massive, highly responsive lists.

You are not in the information marketing business
You are not in the network marketing business
You are not in the affiliate marketing business
You are not in the coaching business
No.
You are in the List-Building Business!
***The list is the BUSINESS!***
Focus on building it…
And taking care of it.
If you care about your list of subscribers, you won’t promote any bullshit to them just to make a commission.
You will protect it from wolves.
When MMM was active, I sent an article (written by Ronald Nzimora) to warn my subscribers about it.
Some listened.
Some didn’t.
But when it crashed, they knew I warned them.
And they know I have their interest at heart.
Some people will tell you that email marketing is dead.
Don’t allow anyone to deceive you.
These are people who do not know the mechanics of building a list to start with or they are the ones who build lists with poor quality.
When building your list, focus first on quality.
Quality is what gets you results.
And when you have quality X quantity, that is what millions of dollars come from.
Email marketing is NOT dead.
It is alive and GROWING STRONGER!
FB chatbot can’t even compete with it
You can build groups and followers on social media but don’t forget that those are not your properties.
Facebook can change their rules anyday (just like they don’t want pages to show on newsfeed again)
But your list is your list.
You are in 100% control of it.
I have my lists on my computer and in my backup discs.
And building a list is not just for people who sell internet marketing related products/services
It works across various markets.
Real Estate
Parenting
Health
Investing
Beauty
Fashion
Etc
Right now, a lot of people are finding it hard to sell directly to people and it will get harder until you start focusing on building a list of people and really care about them.
If I were to give a useful piece of advice to a newbie who wants to start an online business and cut out all the BS, here is what I will say:
“Focus on building a LIST”
Let’s say you have a solid list of 1000 people and you promote a N15,000 offer to them every month.
If only 20 of them buy your offer, that is a profit of N300,000.
And you can put part of that into getting more people into your list.
Of course, building a list will require that you know how to get traffic from places like Facebook etc and “having a frontend offer” to help you make money while building your list.
But the end game is the list.
When you build it, you will stop struggling and stop begging people for JVS.
You will naturally become a celebrity.
And you will be able to generate cash on demand.
If I get really broke and I needed to raise N3 million, I will simply come up with an irresistible offer for my list subscribers priced at N100,000.
All I need is to get 30 people to take the offer to make me N3m – which is easy because these are people who trust me and know I have their interests at heart.
That is my advice.
Many people won’t take it.
No problem.
But if you plan to be in this internet business for long and make a lot of money from it, build your list!
